About Library
The Knowledge Resource Centre (KRC) of Teerthanker Mahaveer University consists of a Central Library with various major branches situated in different Academic Blocks. These are well-established modern libraries catering to the information needs of the academic community. For a closer view of advances in technology, new discoveries in the fields of medical, dental, nursing, paramedical sciences, physiotherapy, management, computing sciences, engineering, law, education, physical education, fine arts, and agriculture sciences.
It has a vast and varied collection of books, journals, e-resources, and reference materials. These libraries have more than three lakh books on varied subjects and subscribe to over 200+ national and international journals in print, along with access to a wide range of e-journals.
The KRC is fully automated with modern facilities using KOHA open-source library management software, including OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), e-library access, digital resources, Wi-Fi connectivity, and reading rooms that offer a comfortable and quiet environment for study and research.
Books are issued through bar-coded identity cards to students and faculty members of the University from the circulation section. Reading materials are also issued for study within the reading rooms. The catalogue of the Central Library is accessible via the internet/intranet.
CCTV cameras ensure the safety of library materials, and the Central Library is equipped with a Fire Alarm Control Panel and manually operated fire extinguishers. Approximately 1800 students, teachers, and other members visit the library daily. An automated footfall record system is maintained, requiring visitors to scan a valid identity card at the entrance.
The KRC subscribes to a wide range of national and international journals, databases, and electronic resources through platforms like EBSCOhost, Manupatra, UptoDate, DELNET, and others.
Dedicated to promoting lifelong learning and academic excellence, the library also offers specialized services such as Current Awareness Service (CAS), Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI), Inter-Library Loan (ILL), reprographic services, and user orientation programs.
The Central Library plays a crucial role in enriching the knowledge base of the university community and fostering a culture of reading, research, and innovation.
KRC Objectives
- Academic library is a dynamic instrument of education, supporting the faculty in teaching and research programmes. The primary objective is conservation and preservation of knowledge.
- Helping the faculty and students to achieve the highest academic honour and foster lifelong reading habits.
- To educate and assist students and staff in identifying and effectively using information resources.
- To preserve all collections/materials and maintain/upgrade infrastructure to enhance service quality.
- To collect materials in all formats, broaden and update collections to meet program needs and support teaching, research, innovation, and training.
- To automate all library functions and processes using ICT.
- To provide current materials and databases that support the academic curriculum.
