TMU Knowledge Resource Centre - Membership

  • All the faculty members, staff and students are entitled for the membership of TMU Knowledge Resource Centre.
  • All faculty and staff members will get their membership through their ERP portal after it is approved by the reporting officer on their ERP portal.
  • All the students will get their membership through admission receipt.
  • TMU Central Library also provides external membership to outside readers on deposit of fee Rs. 5000/- only. This membership will be valid for 12 months and books will be issued only for library premises.
  • External members shall get their membership form approved by the Chairperson (University Library Committee) through University Librarian.

* University management may borrow books as per requirement for 180 days.

* University Officers may borrow 06 books for 90 days.

Library Circulation Rules

1. Entry to the library is through a valid identity card.

2. Circulation timings for Wing A is from 09:00 AM to 5:30 PM and for all other libraries circulation timings is from 08:45 AM to 04:45 PM.

3. Each student's account is created on the Koha portal, which entitles the student to receive a specified number of books issued from the library. The book must be returned to the library on or before the due date and if the due date falls on a non-working day, then the book can be returned only on the next working day.

4. Library books will be issued to students for 14 days including holidays and Sundays and the same rule shall apply to late fines.

5. After the due date of return, a late fine of Rs 10/- per day per book will be charged from the student. The maximum late fine for one book will be Rs 500/-

6. Users are requested to collect receipts for the fine amount paid by them.

7. It is the duty of the book borrower to maintain the book in good condition, otherwise he may be asked to pay the current value/purchase price of the book.

8. If a book borrowed from the library is/are lost/damaged, the matter must be reported to the Deputy Librarian immediately. If the replacement is not possible the following will be the procedure to recover the cost of the loss/damage:

a. The user has to submit the same or the latest edition of the lost/damaged book.

b. In case the lost book is not available in the market or online and it is not possible to arrange it from any source, the user will pay as per the terms given below:

A. On or Before the Due Date If the Book price is less than Rs 200/- Double the price of the Book
B. On or Before the Due Date If Book Price is Rs 200/- or more. Only the actual price of the Book
C. After Due Date If the Book price is less than Rs 200/- Double the price of the Book + Fine for the book returned after the due Date.
D. After Due Date If Book Price is Rs 200/- or more. The actual price of the Book + Fine for the book returned after the due Date.

9. The University librarian reserves the right to ask any members to return the book(s) to the library at any time.

10. An Internet facility is available to pursue academic activities. Browsing obscene pages/websites, playing games, online chatting etc. are serious offences, which can attract a fine of up to Rs 1000/- and they may be barred from further use of library services. Students should not change the settings and display of computers available in the library

11. Students are not allowed to bring their personal books and other belongings to the library stack section. They are further advised to take due care of their valuable items such as mobile phones, electronic gadgets, jewellery, etc., including cash and other valuables. The University shall not be responsible for any loss or theft in any way.

12. The library is a place to read, write & learn, requiring absolute silence and peace. Anyone violating this rule shall be fined and can be debarred from access to the library in the future.

13. Students should follow the instructions of the library staff and cooperate with them for better quality services.

14. All items taken into and out of the library are subject to security checks. If any reading material/book is found without permission/slip at the security point of the library, then the defaulter shall have to deposit Rs. 5000/- and the cost of the reading material as a penalty.

15. The reader shall not mutilate or deface or write anything on the books, other sources of study, or the furniture. The defaulter may be subject to a fine to the extent of the replacement cost of the book or Rs. 500/- whichever is higher.

16. Students are advised to not leave the book at the study table after reading and should return the book in the stack section.

17. Students can suggest standard books/journals for procurement in the library.

18. Students are required to follow the rules as framed from time to time.

19. The circulation In-charge will be fully responsible for any deficiency of circulation.

20. The Circulation In-charge will get the daily work verified by the Deputy Librarian.

21. The circulation In-charge will prepare all dues amount details on the last day of the month and will get it verified by the Deputy Librarian then submit the total amount to the account section with follows reports:

a. Fine Submitted to Accounts Department

b. Total Outstanding Fine

c. Outstanding Books

d. Write-off Details

22. After the semester ends circulation In-charge will verify all transactions and prepare all types of reports then send them to the University Librarian through proper channels. The report details are as follows:

a. Issues/Return books detail faculty and students

b. Total outstanding detail of students

c. Books pending on faculty and students

d. Total Library users (footfalls)

23. Users are requested to verify the physical condition of the book/s before borrowing.

Fine Waive Off :

24. If the Circulation in-charge or other library staff finds any technical problem in the software like overdue fines etc., the staff shall immediately inform the university librarian with a written application mentioning the details of the member. The university librarian has to take prior permission from the Chairperson (University Library Committee). After approval, the University librarian will write off the dues from the user's account.

No Dues :

25. The No Dues will be mandatory for every student before the semester examination. The student will get his/her No Dues certificate from the designated person in the library.

26. University employees (Faculty, Staff, Administration, etc.) are required to obtain a No Dues Certificate from the University Librarian before leaving the job (which can be obtained through ERP).

Feedback Form :

27. The library issues feedback forms from time to time. Whatever suggestions are received, if appropriate, they are implemented.
